THE ART OF PUTTING ON RED LIPSTICK

If anyone reads my blog..You will know this is my Mother.. I remember when I was a kid, watching my Mother put her lipstick on..I remember  how beautiful she looked.. So one day I decided to buy a tube of red lipstick and give it to her for a surprise..She loves getting things..She is now in her second child hood.
So when she opened it..She said, Now let me give you a lesson on how to put lipstick on.........Even at 85 she did it perfect.. So I do believe it is an art..How to paint your lips Red.     To me she is still beautiful.
She is slowing slipping away from me as the woman I knew..The thing that remains the same is how much she loves me and even if sometimes as we are holding hands and she swings her arms as best friend do when they are walking...It is a memory I will always cherish..   I love you Mother, and best friend.
Your daughter,
Katelen

She is beautiful. Reminds me of my grandmother who is 94 and still wears her red lipstick which almost looks exactly that color (it must be a generation thing with that Classic Red). My mother too, was an artist with a lip brush and so taught me. I'm not caught without my lipstick!

Sweet post :)

She looks wonderful and does those red lips beautifully. My Mum is 86 and still loving life and we love her. Special moments and memories I know you're loving them all

I love that you swing your arms together when holding hands. It's funny how time comes full circle in some ways. And your mum looks very much the lady there with her ruby red on. Lovely photo's of her. Perhaps I should get my mum to teach me to apply lipstick before I miss my chance ... I never learnt, can you believe that. Somehow the whole make-up phase passed me by completely. It's not too late though I guess. xx Jos

What a sweet and lucky daughter you are. I ADORE the photos of your mother putting on lipstick.. Do you mind if I save the pix and maybe paint her one day. There is just so much character and wisdom in her face.

She is just beautiful Katelen! Your Momma looks adorable putting on her vivid red lipstick. How sweet it is! I love that you hold hands with your mom and share those quiet moments where there needs to be no words. Memories to cherish Katelen. She did by the way, put that lipstick on just perfect. I'll say it again, she is beautiful, her eyes have warmth.

You've captured something so lovely here about the nature of both beauty and relationships - on one level things change, but on another pure love and beauty remain unscathed by time.

LOVE the red lipstick, your mom is beautiful!

Oh,this post tugs at my heart strings, Katelen!
I wish I'd had the opportunity to swing hands with my Mom.
You're very fortunate to have these moments to tuck away in your forever place. I know that you know that.
I love that she never forgot how to apply her lipstick,,,,and that now, thanks to you, WE all know how.
Beautiful post from a beautiful daughter, about a beautiful mother.

She is beautiful and yes it is an art to apply RED lipstick.
I need a lesson or two from her.
Cherish her as long as you can. I lost my Mother three years ago next month and I miss her so much.
God bless you and big hugs

Katelen, I hope your day is giving you more moments to smile about today.

This is a lovely post about your Mother. I have no idea how to wear lipstick, so I think she'd need to give me a lesson too! She looks beautiful all dolled up with her lipstick. You can see the joy in her eyes over her present and the chance to share this moment with you.

all the best to you this week!

Oh MY...this almost brought me to tears, but ended up with giggles ....the same lipstick and my Mother would show me too how to put it on and say..."Honey, you need some color." I was more prone to the shimmer lite orange of the sixties and seventies....I miss my Mom soooo much!!!....and I have at least a dozen of her lipstick tubes....to this day!! Sooo precious and thanks for the memories....

oh Katelen Your Mother is indeed beautiful! I remember watching my Mom put lipstick on as a child and how she would lightly touch my lips with the tube to "apply" it to mine too (just a hint of color)...she still prefers a bright coral color (and a similar shade looks good on me too)...how delightful to share these precious memories. May she heal well and continue to know love and sweetness through the rest of her days, and YOU TOO!
