New Year 2010--My Word is Search

This piece is just a quick sketch on wood with oil pastels. Using the word I choose for the year Search....
This year is to year to search my heart, my soul.

The pages below are my first pages of a small journal for the the first day of the year of 2010.
I will bind them together into a small journal. It shall be my inspiration for the year. To remind me to always keep searching within our self. We have so much and we forget to keep searching for more. We just scratch the surface of our soul.. Then we stop instead of Searching for more.Think the words that can describe search are ," Find, Bring to Light, expose ,discover, uncover, unearth and look for, and probe." I shall do all these things to find My self.. I am on a new and exciting journey..

You might have to click on them if you want a better view..

FIND , BRING TO LIGHT

UNCOVER, EXPOSE

UNEARTH, DISCOVER

I do hope everyone had wonderful Holidays. I hope you have wonderful new Year.
I hope you have a word picked out for your New Year.
I have missed everyone and I have been blessed to get to know so many. I hope in the New Year to get to know so many more.
One thing has not changed.
May you always dream in color.

Dear Katelan,

What a wonderful start to the New Year. I am sure it felt good. When you wrote 'May you always dream in color', I was reminded of a quote I wrote in 2008 about the colours and artist uses: The colour palette reflects the artist's soul, while the painting mirrors their spirit.

All the very best for 2010

A new journal to start a new year, what a good idea.

My word for the year is 'fun'. I know it sounds kind of surface, but that is good for me. I tend to be too deep, not enough play.

Katelen, the first picture is fantastic. Absolutely love it.

I am so glad it all turned out well, isn't funny how we can surprise ourselves sometimes. I can even butter a bun; har har. And that is the extent of me in the kitchen.

Happy New Year.

Love Renee xoxo

Search!
Katelen, your painting speaks volumes to me.
In fact there is a phrase I use, (not from me)
"sitting in my weeds" when I have something to work through. Not expecting the answer right away, just sitting in my weeds, in the junk of my life and thinking, asking questions, "searching". And in your painting she is naked. No hiding!!!! from yourself, or your God.

Blessings!

Happy New Year! your new journal pages seem to have the same, golden/fiery colors, it may mean something. I think to know thyself is the most important thing in our lives, and yet, you are right, we barely scratch the surface.
I didn't have a word for the new year, but we are already 2 days into it, and I think mine may be 'self-discovery'. The last two days have been strange, emotional, but not from sources outside of me...I may have to spend some time knowing myself as well...
good luck to us both :-)

What a terrific starting post for the new year! You've gone searching in a true blue way and have even now found deep rich warmth in your resulting colors and themes.

If we were supposed to pick out a word on January 1st for the New Year, mine would have to be travel. Because right at midnight I heard and then saw fireworks out the window, reminding me that at one point I posted in character as Gandalf the Grey on certain forums of Middle Earth. Here on January 2nd, I've already made a whirlwind trip from Ohio to New York and back to Ohio, and this young year has already been quite an adventure!

Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful art and words, my friend! :-)

I find these pages quite beautiful Katelen. I love the rhythm created with the repetition of your writing, and the warm layering of colors. I also believe that we have great potential in our inner explorations. For myself I need to remember not to get too caught up in the action of searching, rather than *being* with myself, patiently allowing the space for revelation. Don't know if that makes sense, but in the past I have gotten too caught up in the seeking and lost sight of what wants to arise organically!
May your search bring greater peace, inspiration, and wellness to you this new year.
love, Karin
