Small piece 5x5 on hand made paper. For my eyes seem to look on the ground more than it does in the direction I am going. Maybe that is why I miss a lot of things, but I seem to find treasures on the ground. So I suppose I really do not miss things, I seem to find things lost by some and then it is my destiny to find them. For many walk the same paths and do glance down once in awhile and see the same things and give it a kick with their foot thinking it just trash on their path. Those people are missing the beauty of found objects. This piece is called
LASTING.
This is another found object while digging through an old building. This one is called GRACE.
Where you are one of those people who find beauty in looking down and finding those small treasure or where you are one of those people that call it trash. My thoughts are you do not know what your missing!!!!
.............I am bound on a journey without end....Sun Yun-feng.
May you always dream in color.

Beautiful...its amazing the second life of these castaways!
I'm always looking down at my feet and it's true, one finds the most amazing things down there! Lovely pieces.
The most I've ever found whilst looking down is a penny! those treasures are neat!
ciao bella
and thanks for stopping in today!

So fun to look at. Like how you arranged the objects on the "canvas".
Found a $5 bill (while looking down which I didn't do for long because there is so much to see) at the MET in New York City once.
Lovely wee pieces you have made here with your found objects. I'm always scouring the ground for found items where ever I go as well. People are always asking me if I saw them at such and such and I never do, LOL! I do find lots of fun stuff for art though!
I do the same thing, but you have made art out of your found things. Just great!
My goodness, you've just inspired a blog post for me to write! What will you call the top treasure? It reminds me of the seafaring pirates of olde with parrots perched on their shoulders. "Grace" is so very rich in meaning. Have a happy Easter my friend!
These are so beautiful. I love this first one a lot and I loved what you wrote, how often do we overlook the good that's right before us, just because we don't recognize it's value.
Here's to looking down and looking out and new life in the old!
I love found object art,,and both your pieces are beautiful. I especially like the blue, with the blue threads(?) securing the center.
I wonder how much really cool stuff we stumbled over, before we started looking down?
From one down looker to another -- love these creations. Simple yet strong.
Dear Katelen,
I too look mostly on the ground and not ahead, when driving my eyes are not always on the road before but to the sides.
The little objects we discover seem to take on a life of their own, a magical power, a talisman, protecting our spirit.
Thank you for sharing and wishing you a wonderful Easter holiday weekend,
Egmont
I really love these. The first one has my favorite colors and is earthy. And the second one is profound.
I try to see what is valuable in places or situations where it's least expected. Sometimes it is hard. Lately it has been.
Beautiful post and something for me to think on further.
Katelen , you give to these found objects Grace , and beuty .... your eyes have this power ..... thank you for transform the things of this worl in better and pretier treasures !!!
this post is fron the day 31 !! how did i miss it ? my life has being a mess here .
now i am going to look that post where you show your eyes !!
i don't resist that post !
You have given your found objects new life. I look down quite a lot and have found some interesting things....HB thinks I'm crazy when I stop to pick up some little bit of "trash" but I'm slowly bringing him over to my side!
When I look at trash through the eyes of my art journal, I do see treasure. Isn't it wonderful?
I am definitely one of those artists who is always looking down - at the textures on the ground-- and finding all sorts of found junk and trash.. I have walked into a few posts and signs in college but am much better now :-)
I love found. The best things I always find are things just lying around. These turned out very nice - that blue is so striking!
I also look at the ground for those treasures as a little feather, stones etc...
I love it how you transform your found treasures into such wonderful poetic art.
I love lasting and grace a lot!
