My Ears Are Stretching to Listen

I have been working in the little book off and on..I will paint a few pages and then I will pick it up and this is what come off the page.. I wanted her to have big ears because I have been trying to listen more instead of talking.. I seem to talk to much and not listen.  I am trying and I am doing better but I need more improvement so I made the ears pointed as though someone is pulling  them and stretching them to say LISTEN!!!!!!!!
Maybe it is the book I am reading . The title is called Discerning the voice of GOD..  How to recognize when God speaks..
Have a great weekend and enjoy the moments.

May you always dream in color,
Katelen

awww I love this. I used to be a preschool teacher and somwhere I found a pair of large plastic ears that I would quietly put one when the children were being really loud and I needed them to quiet down. Without any direction, little giggles would spread through the group and they would finally quiet down and be prepared for what was to happen next . :)

I think most of us talk more than we listen...I really believe it's a skill we learn.

Love this journal page!

I love the big ears. I think I talk more than I listen. I too am trying to listen by looking at someones eyes when they speak to me. I'm trying, but it is hard. I should pull my ears and make them bigger.Tee hee. Hi Katelen, hope all is well. I love your drawing and hope you have a great weekend too. Take care.

I love this piece. Just looking at the photo of you next to it, it looks a wee bit like an elfish version of you. Listen is my word for the year. It teaches me regularly and can endlessly. It has so much to offer. I made myself a bracelet that I wear to remind me to listen. I chose the color black like night and silence. But it could be a different color for someone else. Just helps having a medicine piece that reminds me.

i need this also in my life- to be a better listener and it is so imaginative on your part. I hear God's voice when I read scripture and when I'm still and quite after prayer- and sometimes- I will feel a powerful nudge to call someone or talk to a particular person, or while I'm talking to a person- I will feel the Spirit inviting me to join Him in something so I will listen very closely (to that person) and try to figure out what God wants me to do or say to help comfort and encourage that person.. is that weird? But when I act on it- awesome things happen.

Listening is always a challenge. I love how you've portrayed this challenge in your painting.

Cori Lynn's comment is too cute.

I hope you're having a calming weekend and wishing you all the best in the coming week.

I love this, Katelen. Listening is truly an art form. Most of us are thinking about what to say next rather than listen to the person that is speaking to us.
