Sketch Book Sunday

Today is a day for staying inside by the fire place. The temperature dropped last night and it is cold in the south. So what do you do when that happens? You pick up the sketch book and think about warmth and nesting.  LOL
This little piece is done on watercolor paper 9x12 size.Using my Derwent Inktense pencils. These are so much fun and wonderful color..

I called this little piece Family Protection...It started with sketching the people and I decided not to put faces on them and somehow I say eggs in their heads and then I just started with trying to sketch a nest behind them. It was not so much thinking of families protecting their children but how we as humans should protect the earth and the small things that sometimes can not take care of them self. To protect the trees and what lives in the Forrest.
That is my story..You may see another one.
If it is cold were you are snuggle up and stay warm..If it is warm where you are send some of your sunshine this way.
Have a good week.
May you always dream in color.

I am intrigued, both by the process and the result - not to mention the medium, which is unknown to me. I can relate to the finished product. Totally.

Those sound like fun pencils to use. Your interpretation is a wonderful statement about nature. I think it's easy for the human race to forget we are part of this earth's natural system.

This would make a great print!

I can really feel the nesting instinct with this drawing .... It has a sort of yearning to it. Nice work :)

Interesting perspective in this work,,allowing the viewer to imagine the faces. Happy? Sad?
Causes one to think,,and I like that in a painting.
Your previous piece is gorgeous, and prints would make an awesome Christmas card!

Cool-ish here,,,with cold on it's way. I'm hunkered down.

Love those Inktense pencils but I've never done anything quite as lovely as your piece - it's fabulous!!
It was snowy here, today sunny and 45, tomorrow more snow and an 'arctic blast' so... who knows:) A warm fire sounds perfect!
