Waiting to Go Home

This a mix media piece 15x20 on canvas board..
This piece is done for Hope of the future..It is done for the animals and the people.. Who loose their home due to Forest Fires. and Fire. Fire sweeps in and destroys the Forest which belong to all the animals. One day they were enjoying life in a beautiful Forest and then the Fire came and either they perish or they escape.. The ones that are fortunate to get out. They stay close by waiting to go home. To start again to build their nests amongst the charred trees and hoping that some life remains under the ground. It is the true with humans, when our homes are being destroyed by fire..We stay close. Hoping something remains. Even if it is a small piece of things we cherish.. A photograph, a piece of china that belonged to a mother or grandmother.
So we pray and ask to please be careful with the dry summer months . Or at any time.. Fire is strong and Fierce and it destroys so quickly.
Yes Fire is a useful thing when handled the proper way.. So let's keep it that way..
Thanks for taking a look at my work and reading my story that goes along with it..
This piece was done last year during the fires that sweep the Western side of our Country.
I am still not having time in my studio..Yet it will come and I will be ready.
You might click on it to get a better view of the heat..
May you always dream in Color,
Katelen

Heart-rendingly touching, profoundly poignant. Awesome expression on the birds' faces and in their body language. Magnificent art. And so caring! I hope they make it safely home.

Strong and Fierce are perfectly chosen words to describe the wild fires...we had a fairly small one last year here at the beach but still loss and fear. I like the piece very much and I did click to enlarge. Wonderful!

Summer always means fires for the Western U.S. I hope they are not as bad this year.
